Although now an icon, he sold only one painting in his lifetime. His originality is showcased in many self-portraits and landscapes, as well as his most famous piece, Starry Night, which now hangs in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. It hauntingly expresses, through swirling brushstrokes, vivid colors, and distorted forms, the artistic brilliance of this quintessential tormented artiste who left us a legacy of eternal masterpieces.
